New York still remains to be one of the most popular and wonderful place to visit in the U.S. Whether for a quick weekend, a week or as part of a longer trip, this vibrant city is a must see at least once in your lifetime. Other attractions include: On 265 acres, the Bronx Zoo is the largest metropolitan zoo in the U.S. More than 6,000 animals live in lush habitats such as the Congo Gorilla Forest, African Plain, and Wild Asia. The Japan Society, New York's leading cultural institution on Japan, presents a range of lectures, musical performances, and exhibitions. Explore 4,000 years of history at the Jewish Museum, which is devoted to ancient and modern Jewish art and culture. An exciting opportunity to explore entertainment history, the Museum of Television & Radio offers visitors access to its collection of archived television and radio programs. See dolphins jump and explore marine life including beluga whales, walruses, sharks and seahorses at the New York Aquarium in Coney Island. BEACHES: Did you know you could surf in New York? With 578 of coastline there are plenty of areas to choose from. Just o few of the more well known are: Coney Island has a famous boardwalk with rides and games of chance, museum, flea markets, the Brooklyn Cyclones stadium, New York Aquarium, and special events like June’s Mermaid Parade and the summer Siren Festival. Brooklyn, Queens, & Staten Island offer fantastic beaches, old military forts, and wildlife with an assortment of activities. The elegant mile-long Orchard Beach crescent - the "Bronx Riviera" - is the borough’s most popular summertime meeting place. Fire Island is a barrier beach (literally a sand bar) located about 90 minutes outside of New York City, just a 30 minute ferry ride across the Great South Bay. It is a premier getaway spot for the gay community. Sand dune beaches rollout into the Atlantic Ocean on the south side of the island, while the north side has dining, bars and clubs.
